FAQs

At The Smile Center of Peoria, we understand that you may have questions about our services and policies. Below are some of the most frequently asked questions we receive from our patients.

Is The Smile Center accepting new patients? +

Yes! We are happily acceping new patients at The Smile Center of Peoria. In our office, we provide comprehensive family, biological/holistic cosmetic, and emergency dentistry to patients of all ages in Peoria and surrounding areas.

What is included in the new patient appointment? +

Each new patient appointment consists of a full-set of low radiation x-rays, pictures of existing teeth and restorations, saliva testing and periodontal pockets evaluation. This is our RECORDS APPOINTMENT. It is important to TEST, NOT GUESS. During this appointment, we will also give you a supplement to negate any negative effects of any radiation from the x-rays. Please note, a dental cleaning is NOT performed at this appointment.

What if I don’t have dental insurance? +

At The Smile Center, we believe everyone should be able to obtain dental treatment. If you do not have dental insurance, we offer an in-house dental plan. If you are not interested in the in-house plan, we offer a discount to all our uninsured patients who self-pay.
In addition to cash, check, and major credit cards, we also accept CareCredit. CareCredit is a type of financing that allows you to break your payments down into easy monthly payments. Care credit is also available for use at the veterinary office, eye doctor and at your primary care physician’s office.
Major credit cards: Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express.

Does The Smile Center accept state insurance/medical card? +

No, we do not accept the state dental insurance. We would love to accommodate all insurances, but we would not be able to provide you with the same high standard of care when restricted by the state insurance guidelines.

Does The Smile Center treat children? +

We treat children of all ages. We would like to clarify, we are not a pediatric specialist, but we have the ability to treat kids in our office through behavior management and light sedation (i.e. nitrous oxide).

How much does SMART amalgam removal cost? +
When a patient contacts our office about SMART amalgam removal, they will be scheduled for a SMART amalgam consult. This consult focuses on all teeth containing Amalgam restorations. We will document all amalgam fillings and create a treatment plan for the restorative replacement. The treatment plan will consist of the cost for each restoration per tooth and separate, associated SMART costs.
Does The Smile Center provide SMART amalgam removal services while a mother is breastfeeding? +

The IAOMT does not recommend having amalgam “silver” fillings removed while a mother is breastfeeding.  The Smile Center will perform removal in cases of emergency.

Do you have a CBCT? +
The Smile Center of Peoria does not have a CBCT “cone beam” machine at its physical location. We work closely with an orthodontic office less than 0.5 miles from our office to capture your cone beam imaging. The Smile Center will schedule you with the orthodontic office and they will have the imaging read by a radiologist. They will return the information to our office, and The Smile Center will schedule you for a limited exam to review your radiographic findings.
Does The Smile Center offer sedation dentistry? +
At The Smile Center of Peoria, your comfort and safety is our primary concern. Our office provides nitrous oxide “laughing gas” sedation to help aid in the comfort of our patients.  We do not offer twilight sedation/conscious sedation or general sedation.

The Smile Center of Peoria does not remove root canal material from root canal treated teeth.  When the patient comes to The Smile Center with a root canal treated tooth and it requires removal, we will safely remove the root canal treated tooth and the tooth’s associated ligaments to help ensure the oral health of our patients.
