Achieve a Brighter Smile Thanks to Teeth Whitening from the Smile Center

Whether due to age, diet, or other external factors, the brightness of your teeth can begin to fade. What were once beautifully white teeth you loved to show off can become stained and miscolored, leading to a “less-stunning” smile. Yet, the Smile Center of Peoria believes your smile shouldn’t be anything less than stunning! As such, our dental office offers in-office teeth whitening services and provides customized whitening trays for at-home use. If you want to restore the brightness of your smile, count on our professional teeth whitening services.

How Does Teeth Whitening Work?

Over the years, the technology and chemicals used in teeth whitening have advanced significantly. Today, whitening is a straightforward, hassle-free process that can even be done in the comfort of your home! The Smile Center applies a whitening gel with an active bleaching agent like hydrogen peroxide to our patients’ teeth. The gel contains an ingredient that opens the pores in a tooth to allow the bleaching agent to seep past the enamel and into the tooth’s dentin. The oxygen molecules released from the bleaching agent then react with the discolored molecules in your teeth, helping them break away and return the dentin to its original color. After several repeat applications of the whitening gel on separate dentist visits, our patients begin to notice significantly whiter teeth.

How Did You Stain Your Teeth in the First Place?

As effective as whitening procedures from the Smile Center of Peoria can be, they can be quickly reversed if you’re not careful. Many external factors can cause extrinsic and intrinsic stains on your teeth. If you wish to keep your teeth bright and white after our procedures, it’s best to avoid what stained them in the first place! Some of the most likely causes of tooth discoloration include:

  • Consuming dark-colored beverages like coffee, tea, and red wine
  • Using tobacco products
  • Poor dental hygiene leads to plaque buildup and tartar formation
  • Certain medications that can affect the color of your tooth enamel

Avoiding these habits and maintaining regular oral hygiene practices are crucial to keeping your teeth white after professional whitening. Our team at the Smile Center can also provide tips on how to keep your smile bright for longer.

At-Home Teeth Whitening

In addition to our standard in-office teeth whitening, we supply our patients with customized whitening kits to take home. Our whitening kits include a tray and gel that you can effortlessly apply to your teeth yourself. If dental visits cause you anxiety or you want to maintain a brighter smile after the initial in-office whitening procedures, our at-home kits are an excellent alternative. Discuss with the dental specialists at the Smile Center what whitening methods work best for you.
